How much have I spent on the App Store?
Apple’s current public support documentation explains how to review and filter individual purchases, but does not document a lifetime-spending total. To get a number, you add up the paid purchases in your history for the period you care about. This guide shows how to do that without miscounting.
What Apple’s history shows
Purchase History lists items one at a time, with their price and date: apps, in-app purchases, subscriptions, music, videos, books, AppleCare+ and more. You can filter by date range, by cost (free or paid), by type, and by family member if you organize a Family Sharing group.
Those filters narrow the list. They don’t add it up.
Decide what you are counting
"How much have I spent on the App Store?" can mean different things. Decide before you start, because each answer uses different filters.

Adding it up yourself
For a short period
- Open Purchase History and set the date range.
- Set Cost to paid.
- Note each price, or search for items you already suspect.
- Add the prices. A phone calculator or a simple spreadsheet is enough.
For many years
Doing this by hand gets slow over years of purchases. The practical alternative is a copy of your Apple account data, which includes a record of your App Store, iTunes Store and Apple Books purchases in files you can open on a computer. Apple doesn’t document the exact layout of those files, so plan to check what you receive before building formulas on it.
Apps, in-app purchases and subscriptions
- Apps are usually a single charge when you first buy them.
- In-app purchases can be one-off (an upgrade, a level pack) or consumable (game currency). Consumables can’t be restored and often add up to more than people expect.
- Subscriptions repeat. One subscription can produce twelve or more entries a year, and changing plans changes the amount.
Receipts and grouped billing
Apple charges at the time of purchase or within a few days, and may group several purchases into one charge. Apple also notes that in Europe and India purchases might not be grouped. So the number of charges on your card and the number of items in your history rarely match, even when the totals do. See grouped Apple charges for how to match them.
More than one Apple Account
Each Apple Account has its own history. If you have used more than one over the years, total each separately. One account can’t see another’s purchases.
Family Sharing
In a Family Sharing group, members’ purchases can be charged to the organizer’s payment method. The organizer can use the Family member filter to see them. Decide whether your total means "what I bought" or "what my card paid for", because the two can be very different.
Why your total can differ from your bank

| Apple Account balance | Apple uses your balance before your card. Purchases paid from a gift card or balance never reach your bank statement. |
| Grouped charges | Several purchases appear as one bank line. |
| Refunds | A refund is credited separately, so the original charge and the refund can appear as two lines on your statement. |
| Family purchases | Members’ purchases can land on the organizer’s card. |
| External purchases | Items billed by a developer outside Apple aren’t Apple charges at all. |
| Authorization holds | Small temporary holds can appear when you update billing details or add a family member. They are removed later. |
| Currency and time zone | Bank conversion, and UTC dates in data copies, can shift amounts or days. |
Advanced: using an Apple data copy
For a multi-year total, the Data & Privacy copy is the most complete source Apple offers to consumers. Keep the caveats above in mind: dates are in UTC, some partly gift-card purchases may appear as gift card redemptions, and Apple recommends Numbers because other spreadsheet apps may round long numbers.
